Countdown to Sturm Uber Deutschland

Sturm Uber Deutschland takes place November 2nd and 3rd, more details are available here:

www.reluctantconscripts.co.uk

This is the Late War tournament put on by Reluctant Conscripts, 1750 points, all books. This is the last of the 'open book' events we are running, with each event next year being theatre specific. There is only one restriction, no AOPs for the Allies.

As well as being a great excuse to play five games of Flames of War, tournaments are the sort of impetus I need to get armies painted, and I know I am not alone in that regard. With that in mind, I am planning on taking a US Airborne Engineer Combat Company.

The good news: I have this army already completed in Summer Uniform. Bad News: I am planning on taking a winter uniform force.

So first up, my list:

The vehicles are done. Unless something crazy happens, I will be using my regular olive drab Shermans and Hellcats. I want as much playability out of my toys, so however cool whitewash is, it limits what lists I can use the models in, at least until I can replicate my infantry but in coats :)

When Devil's Charge came out last year, I got very excited about the idea of a Winter American force to complement my summer force, and subsequently bought up as much as I possibly could. Its been the better part of 18 months, and not very much has come out of its shrink wrap. Gamer ADD wins again. But this time I am determined to get some of it on the table. So last night I sprayed this lot black:

That's an Engineer Company (Winter) box, a Bazookas (Winter) blister, an Artillery HQ (Winter) blister, 2 HMG (Winter) blisters, 8 stands of artillery crew and 2 Skorzeny Commando teams, which will be playing the part of Pioneer supply jeeps and trailers. This lot is more than I need for the list, but I got a little excited. Not pictured is the Weapons Platoon (Winter) which will be supplying the LMGs for the Engineer platoons, as they are already assembled and undercoated.

This weekend I am planning on getting some paint on these.
