The Reluctant Conscripts held their annual Late War event, an open book competition with an almost equal Axis to Allies split, we did adopt one limitation and that was to remove AoP’s. We had 50 players, making it among the largest events in the UK.
Report and pictures after the jump...
Day One
Game One - Cauldron
Game one was against Martyn Bolton and his fortified Aufklarungs. I haven't played Martyn before, but have played his brother. Martyn claims he is the 'good looking' one....
6-1 to Martyn. When I saw the draw for round one, I knew I would be fine as long as he wasn't playing the fortified version of the list, but he was :) This list is a tough nut to crack.

Game Two - Counterattack
Game two was against Mike Dewberry. The excellent terrain from game one was one of Mike's boards, now to play the man himself, and his 50th Rifle Company. 4-3 to Mike.
Game Three - Free for All
Pete Harris and his Grenadier company. I am of the belief this was a 3-3 loss, but I am sure I can be corrected. Pete was a great guy to play against, and new to the tournament scene, so I hope to play him again in the future.
Day Two
OK, so on day two we had a drop out, a player who was too unwell to return, at which point I dropped out of the tournament to even up numbers. I spent the rest of the day helping Mick and Tommy out, and handed out the prizes at the end of the day:
Dave Wengraf - Raffle prize winner
1st Place - Steve Charlton
2nd Place - Nobby
3rd Place - (Our very own) Lee McColl
Otto Carius award - Martyn Bolton
Best Painted Allies - Matt Haywood
Best Painted Axis - Sam Street
I'm not quite sure what you are doing to Mr Wengraf that would cause such a smile...!
