Surrounded!

I recently got a game in against my regular opponent, Owen Barnes. We decided to run lists from Overlord and Atlantik Wall, given we have a D-Day themed tournament coming up at the end of September.

We randomised the mission, and ended up with 'Surrounded'. We do not play this very often, as you will not see this mission at a Reluctant Conscripts event.

The table

Owen's 21st Panzer Division

Turn 1

Americans Advance. Firefly and Panzer IV from another platoon bog down. 1 Stuart Platoon destroyed by 88s, the other flees from IV Hs.

Turn 2

Americans close in but the firepower tests are ineffective, bailing a Panzer IV and killing an 88. Nebs are smoked by armoured mortars. The captured Firefly kills a Sherman 76, 88 takes out 2 mortars. Pak 40s bail three and kill one from the Sherman 75 platoon, but the 1iC keeps them in the fight.

Turn 3

Armoured Rifles dismount, but can't pin the Germans. Shermans bail another Panzer IV, but thats it. US AAA kills the other 88 and the command flees. All Panzers bail back in or unbog. Lots of shermans die or are bailed.

Turn 4

The Shermans bail back in. SP AAA doesn't hurt the nebs. Sherman 76s destroy a panzer IV. Sherman 75s gang up on panzer IVs, but can't get a hit. The right hand panzergrenadiers are pinned, but the ARP can't take advantage, as they are also pinned. The Nebs then gut the ARP, and the American left flank falls apart under Pak 40 and panzer IV fire.

Turn 5

The final Sherman 76 kills a panzer IV, the Panzergrenadierss take minor losses and are pinned. US 1iC runs from massed panzer IVs, the captured Firefly kills the last 76 and the Americans break.
